Lakeview
East remodel
Proposal
To create a spacious interior for a Lakeview East condominium with
limited square footage
Solution
Per the owners’ request, the dining room was enlarged at the
expense of the kitchen. Being avid cooks however, they still required
a viable and efficient workspace. Painted panels slide open like
the doors of an oversized armoire to reveal a kitchen rendered in
hard reflective materials: stainless steel, etched glass, polished
and honed granite. The floor plan was reconfigured into two opposing
L-shaped workspaces, through which light could fill the room’s
interior.
A beach theme
– inspired by the condo’s dramatic views of Lake Michigan
– is introduced by the living room, which features a floor
of porcelain sand tiles and columns with ebony-stained oak veneers.
This same theme continues in the bathroom’s use of honed limestone
and rain-textured glass.
