Town Residence
Proposal
To build a contemporary 5,000 square foot single-family home on
a double lot in Chicago’s West Town neighborhood
Solution
The house’s interior is focused around a central atrium, which
serves to connect all three floors as well as allow for plenty of
light. This atrium invokes a sense of privacy and retreat from its
surroundings. A bridge on the main floor connects public spaces
(living room, dining room) to more private spaces (kitchen, breakfast
area, and bedrooms). By angling the kitchen and master bedroom,
full advantage is taken of the house’s dramatic views of the
city.
This project
is scheduled for completion in summer, 2004.
